Re: What are you watching now?
I def need to watch LA Confidential. I loved A Beautiful Mind, I think that was my first RC movie. Then I saw Gladiator and it was all over - I was in love. He was such a badass in that movie. Now I think I've seen most of his good films, and some of his ok ones...but LA confidential is on my list for sure.

It will be a favorite of yours for sure. Crowe really stands out in the ensemble. Like his Romper Stomper, he is a force of Nature that cannot be contained. I was so surprised how small he was on the movie's poster (Comparing to Master & Commander), considering how big his role was. The entire cast right down to the smallest roles were just as amazing, such a generous cast with one another.katharath wrote:I def need to watch LA Confidential.
This period mystery is right up there with Chinatown. Couldn't believe it didn't win Best Picture (Titanic took that prize). Director Curtis Hanson went from Little Dragons in '80 to this. What a journey of film craftsmanship. Most highly recommended.

Basic Instinct's 2007 Director's Cut (I remember seeing Basic Instinct when I was 17 in Keene in '92), then I'm gonna finish the last half hour of Silver Linings Playbook.

Steve!
I'm around now and then.
Kind of in another place at the moment.
Makes postings seem erratic, so I usually just idle.
Tried the movie "Horns". Liked the book better. The movie felt like one of those almost good Stephen King movies from the 90's. I felt they put to much in the movie and really didn't give us anything too original cinematicly. I'll try it again down the road.
